Coyote Encounter Registration and Submission

We are collecting reports of your encounters with urban and suburban coyotes. Currently, we are interested in attaining information about encounters that have occurred since January 1, 2007, in three pilot counties in California: Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego.

Filling out this online questionnarie will not trigger a response by any city or county agency, nor will it result in attempts to remove problem coyotes. You must report a specific human safety incident to the appropriate agency in your county in order to trigger that agency's response to any incident.

The information you provide through our questionnaire will only be used as input for research efforts to better understand the distribution and type of coyote incidents occurring in our three target counties.

Reporting an Encounter requires 3 steps:

  • Begin by Registering and then log in using your email address and password.
NOTE: Your contact information and email address are strictly confidential and will not be distributed to anyone. They will only be used for tracking your submission.
  • Start a new encounter, where you provide us details about the location and other environmental factors at the time of the incident.
  • Finally, provide us with any details about the specific type of encounter you are reporting.
